Overview of gesperrt

"Gesperrt" refers to spaced-out text, as shown in the middle of the example above. The rules for formatting gesperrt are the same as for boldface, including the placement of punctuation. If your eye isn't yet trained to recognize gesperrt, finding short occurrences of it will require extra care.
