Correctly formatted text
"It is six feet square, and four feet high; and the top is divided into thirty-six tablets [or squares] of <i>hieroglyphics</i>, which beyond doubt <i>record some</i> EVENT <i>in the history</i> of the mysterious people who once inhabited the city."
Small caps within italics
There are different ways to format “EVENT”, and preferences vary by Post-Processor, so always ask in the Project Discussion. This example is in the Italics Category because it is the presence of a small-caps term within an italics phrase that raises the question of what should be done.
