Correctly formatted text
"It is six feet square, and four feet high; and the top is divided into thirty-six tablets [or squares] of <i>hieroglyphics</i>, which beyond doubt <i>record some</i> EVENT <i>in the history</i> of the mysterious people who once inhabited the city."
Nested markup
This example shows how to format 'nested' in-line markups: "EVENT" is in all-uppercase small-caps, within an italicized phrase. Unless the Project Comments or Discussion ask for a different method, tag it as shown here: close the italics, mark "EVENT" as small-caps and make sure it's all-uppercase, then re-open the italics.
