Correctly formatted text

T. Garnett's Observations, &c., i. 244, 265.

Titles

The title of Garnett's book is italicized. The "&c." represents part of a deliberately shortened title, so it belongs within the same pair of italics tags as "Observations", and so does the comma.

(This was in a footnote, the rest of which has been omitted for simplification.)
